Last Day

It's has been a while since my last post, 2 months I guess. All these days I was busy finishing my dissertation, but everything are finish now. And also I pass my last term exam. Which mean unofficially can say I finish my all course. It was three and half years of hard work and all pass by without I know it, seems that I just start my diploma yesterday. Even though that now I finish all this study things, the next big question come out. What I should do next? There are some big roads stretched in front of me, but I dunno which one I should take. this will be the next big thing I must solve. Meanwhile, I just enjoy the last days in Singapore, because I'm not sure when I can comeback here again. Well hopefully next year I can work here.

Battle Royale
To spent time after finsihing dieesrtation, in last few days I watched these Japanese m-rated movies, Battle Royale I and Battle Royale II: The Requiem. These movies are very awesome. A bit brutal though. It adapted from Japanase manga with same title. The story is about a group of high school student forced to play in survival game, where they must kill each other till one remain.

The story begun in Japan, where that time the ecnomy is collapsed and many people lost their jobs. Wife left her husband, and desperate husband kill himself. Because of that many children become oprhan. Then the government must take care of these children. Because there too many children to care of with bery tight budget, the government (I think it's the parliment or something) create law named BR act. Each year a group of student, normally all orphan or abandoned by their parents, sent for survival game in an island where they must kill each other until one remain. First the students taken to a school trip and on the way home they drugged. When they wake up in a remote island, a necklace installed on their neck and soldiers surrounded them. They will be given weapons different weapon, some got gun, arrow, there is also who got bulletproff kevlar, but there also one who only got compass. There rule are, they get three days, after that if there are more than one person survive, the bomb inside their necklace will explode and kill all of them, and each hour there is what so called danger zone, if they still within the area the bomb will also explode. In sequel movie, the story a bit different. Instead of killing each other, the candidated are shipped to an island to kill a terorist, who actually the hero from the first movie. If they fail to kill this guy in three days, all neclace will explode.

Overall I like the movie, although like I said very brutal. There are scene where they show the neckalce explode and blow their neck, blood everywhere. Some killing scene also very more brutal. This is kind of movie you can't find from Hollywood moviemakers. Japanese when making this kind of movie is very good and impressive. But not all Japanese action movie as good as this. Yesterday I watched this movie Casshern. This movie use the same digital trick with Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow and Sin City. Well, for my Sky Captain is rubbish, but this even worse. the story plot also dissapointed, seems that the real story is quite long but they packed it into short move. So there are gaps everywhere, make you confuse, although you can understand the overall stroy of the movie.

Tale of Two Ice Creams

I have been doing this countless times... joy walking. Today, originally I only planned to visit Central NLB, doing some research for my dissertation and go home. But after finish doing research, I feel that I don't want to go home. So I decided to spend some time walk around.

Actually I didn't planned to go very far, just walk from NLB to esplanade and take bus from there. And to get there I have to go to Suntec City. But only when I reached there I realized that IT Show is held at Suntec, so it really crowded there. To aviod the crowd I decided to go by Marina Square, but the situation was worse. Lot of people there, so I try to go to the direction where has less people, but it turn that I'm lost. I don't know where I 'm, what I know is that I' m in between Marina Square and Millenia Walk.

Well, I never lost since... my first time visit Suntec City. That was 2002, and I lost after I bought some croissants at carrefour, don't know the direction to mrt. Last time I also remember when me and my friends just go around and around and around at Suntec's fountain looking for a restaurant there.

Anyway I finally find my way, and turn out I'm at Millenia Walk. And from there go to the back of Marina Square, where the cinema is, and found the bus stop. But I still feel that I dont; want to go home, so I decided to walk to... well maybe until I tired walking.

I walked alongside Singapore river till Esplanade. It was quite hot that time, maybe because it near the sea. It not very crowded at Esplanade, only some tourists and people who prepare for night live band. When I reach the eplanade drive, bridge that links Esplanade theatre and Fullerton One where the Merlion Statue is, I saw ice cream seller and decided to buy one, in the cup. Suprisingly when crossing the bridge, it very windy there, so I decided to have a sit enjoy my ice cream while the wind blows my face. That time, i can forget any hardship I have, bad day, dissertation deadline, what anything, it was just me, ice cream, and the wind, hmn... life is so beautiful. After a while I continue my walk. At the end of the bridge I saw another ice cream seller, so I decided to buy another one, but this one ice with bread. Then I ate it till reach the bus stop near Clifford pier, where I took the bus to go home.

Two Exhausted Days

Now I ralized that whenever I hang out with Rudy, it must be involved with some kind of long-distance walking things. Even i walk very far, at least I got someone who feel the same tiredness as I did. Last time we walk from Central Library to Suntec to Funan and then from school to chinese garden and school to IMM Grand (although both not consider very far), but yesterday and today it even "better."

Yesterday
The original plan actually was go to Bugis NLB for our dissertation, but because we spend too much time eating so we cancelled going to the library. It started when I was waiting Rudy, who came late, at Kinokukiya at Bugis Junction. At the time he arrived it already 12 o'clock so we decided to have something to eat, and we choose to eat at Seoul Garden. Because this is buffet style so we just eat, eat, eat, and eat all we want until I realized that I very full and can't take anymore food. In the end I can't walk properly, feel that the food stuck in my chest because my stomach is very full. To make the thing worse, Rudy want to go to Sim Lim Square... walking. After finish our business at Sim Lim Sq we dont have place to go, and then I suggested to go to Orchard but fortunately he against the idea and suggested to just go to Dhoby Gaut, because later he need to go back to Sim Lim to meet his sister (kind of).

Along the way we passed our former school at prinsep house and some place we used to hang out like Paradize Centre and Peace Centre. And then suddenly my big mouth suggested to go to Funan. So now we must walk to City Hall through SMU's new city campus, which I think it's quite extraordinary. All these times I only saw it from outside, and I only feel like being in the city and just see an ordinary building (with SMU name and logo on it). But when I in the middle of the campus the sensation that I am in the city suddenly disapear, replace by the sensation that I in the middle of the campus (where I actually am), something like I always feel when I at my campus.

And then we reached Funan... the IT mall and did window shopping for a while, obviously because I don't have any money left, and then leave. I went back home while Rudy going to back to Sim Lim.

Today
Today was more interesting, because we both went to Johor Bahru. In the morning I feel a bit tired, maybe because of yesterday, so I just page Rudy and said I can't accompany him to Johor. But later on around 11 he called me and said he still in Singapore and asked me whether I want to go or not, so I just said yes. The plan was to looking for wedding photographer for his sister's wedding. The thing I don't understand is why people have wedding photo session before the wedding ceremony, I mean what if later the wedding is cancelled then what the picture mean for. Rudy said that if wedding goes first then later the photo session might won't happen, but if the wedding photo goes first then the wedding will be going on... really?

So here we were, at Johor bahru, looking for wedding photographer. At the first time it was a bit embarrasing, especially for Rudy because he the one who asked about the photo, while I just pretend hearing what they said and flip several photo albums, easy peasy.... hehehe. I saw the design is pretty good, they also do some digital effect so the album looks nicer. And as far as I can see the women have more pictures than the man in the album, for this one I not suprised.

And the last place we visit is this place called Taman Johor Bahru, about 25 minutes from the checkpoint by taxi. On the taxi, the driver mentioned this new shopping centre (or in Malaysia they call it 'tempat membeli belah'), Jusco, he said only 5 minutes from Taman Johor Bahru. The funny thing is that when we want to asked about the photo album, the staff askes us "can you speak malay?", and after thingking for a second Rudy asked her back "can you speak manadarin?"... great so now I can't pretend to listen to what they talking about.

After finish checking the photographer we went to this food court to have some drink, obviously because it was very hot that time. From there we see a building about 600-700 m away, looks like a shopping centre and not too far. So we decided to walk there, but it turns to be a big mistake. Well, it looks not far but we need to pass through a typical Malaysia residential area. It was very hot that day and I'm sweating a lot. When we almost reach the building there is a highway stretched in front of us, and how the hell we gonna cross a highway where the cars run about... 1000 km/hour? Luckily we can get through ,but at the mall there's nothing much we can see, but at least I can eat dunkin donuts... which only available in Indonesia, and Malaysia (other place I'm not sure, but definitely none in Singapore). From there we went to Holiday Plaza, place where people usually buy pirate CD and DVD and also other things but this time take taxi, buy some films obviously and after that set to go back to Singapore. The bad thing is that when I cancelled my student pass last friday, I got 30 days of visit pass, and when I re-enter Singapore from Johor, the immigration officer only gave me 14 days, which mean I lost another 14 days.

Home Alone

Today I'm unofficionally home alone, unofficionally means... well my cousin, her daughter and my aunt already go back to Indonesia, but her husband still here untill 31st Dec. But her husband working so he may be at home only at night, but now I'm having my study break so may will stay at home all the day. But this not the time to slacking, because my exam is coming. Actually can't wait for the day because this'll be my last exam, hopefully, and will mark the end of my study. Altough still have a dissertation to do, but that'll be another problem. So what I'm focusing now is to get through this exam and also enjoy quiete day, stay at home without someone disturb me, like my niece for example, hehehe.

But the problem is slacking is my middle name, and this happen all the time. I always do everything at last minute. But luckily every time I can manage to accomplish the things. Well this is something I'm not proud of and I always tell myself to change, but sadly it never happen. So this may be the best time to change, still got plenty of time before exam and hopefully I can manage to do better preparations.

These few days I'm quite busy looking collecting different types of cars video, mostly Top Gear or Jeremy Clarkson video. Feel like I'm become addicted to it but I can't help it, coz they show are very interseting one, it's is good and fun. Everytime I watch their show, feel like...hey I wanna have this car, or I wanna drive it, or this my dream car... something like tat. Other things are collecting anime and manga. Today I found this j-pop internet radio at live36.com. The good thing is that this is easy listening one, the kind of music I need to help me relax.
